Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Albany Man Receives 3 to 6 for Headstone Robbery ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that DEMETRIUS LANIER, 36, of Albany, NY, was sentenced to three to six years in prison by the Honorable Stephen Herrick. In June, LANIER pled guilty to (1) count of Criminal Possession of Stolen Property in the Third Degree, a Class “D” Felony. On January 4 th, 2009, at approximately 12:08 a.m., LANIER was found in possession of stolen property near the vicinity of Route 9 and the entrance ramp to I-87. At the time of the arrest, LANIER had 6 stolen Headstones, property with a value exceeding $3,000, from Stefanazzi & Spargo Granite Company Inc. Upon further inspection, LANIER was found with a dolly cart and a Stanley 4-in-1 hammer, tools that were used to facilitate the burglary.
