Christopher Porco Verdict

ALBANY, NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares statement:

This difficult case brought us beyond the jurisdictional boundaries of Albany County. We carefully and methodically gathered each and every bit of evidence of this difficult case and placed it before the jury.  A debt of gratitude is owed to the NYS State Police, the New York State Prosecutor’s Institute, the Bethlehem Police Department and all of the experts who dedicated thousands of hours in this quest for justice.

In presenting this case, we were confident that a jury would come to the same conclusions as those of us involved in the investigation.  We are blessed to live in a nation of laws and today we witnessed our legal system function as it was designed - a fair and open process.

This case is an Albany County Tragedy for the Porco family and most certainly for Joan and Peter Porco. The attention brought to this case has had a devastating impact on our entire community.

This is not a time for celebration but for closure and contemplation.

Each and every time a crime is committed in Albany County, the perpetrators should expect a fair but vigorous prosecution.  I would especially like to thank Assistant District Attorney’s Michael McDermott and David Rossi, as well as those who husband this case to the jury. We look forward to them returning to their families and returning to our office to continue the fine work they have demonstrated.

I would also like to acknowledge the hard work of the staff that remained here in Albany County. They have had to do more with less. The people of Albany County can rest a bit easier. It is a time for us to turn the page and move forward.
