David Nelson, Colonie Burglar Sentenced to 18 1/2  years

ALBANY, NY –District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that DAVID NELSON, 37, of 471 Second Street, Albany, NY was sentenced to 18 years for Burglary in the 1st Degree, a class “C” Felony and Burglary in the 2nd Degree, a class “C” Felony, before the Honorable Thomas Breslin.

On January 20, 2006, NELSON forcibly stole property from 19 Sharon Drive and 27 Rapple Drive in the Town of Colonie.  NELSON was discovered in the home, when residents came home early.  He was discovered in possession of cash and family jewelry.

DA Soares noted, “Residents in Colonie have the right to feel safe in their own neighborhoods; NELSON violated their homes and took precious items that could have been irreplaceable.  Mr. NELSON will have a long time to think about his crimes. I hope the victims and their families can obtain a sense of security in their own homes.”

ADA Kathleen Boland of the Major Crimes Units prosecuted this case.
