Drug Dealer Takes Plea

ALBANY, NY –District Attorney P. David Soares announced a plea in the case of People v. HERBERT GOODNIGHT JR.
 
HERBERT GOODNIGHT JR., 50, of 271 Livingston Ave, Albany, has plead guilty to one (1) count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class “B” Felony.
 
In pleading, HERBERT GOODNIGHT JR. admitted that on February 28, 2005, GOODNIGHT did possess 15.3 grams of Crack Cocaine at his 271 Livingston Ave home. Along with the Crack Cocaine, police officers from the Community Response Unit, acting on a search warrant, discovered baggies and digital scales used for the packaging and preparing of controlled substances for sale.
 
GOODNIGHT faces up to 15 years in prison. Sentencing will be later this month in front of the Hon. Stephen Herrick.
 
This case was handled by ADA Eric Galarneau of the Street Crimes Unit. The Street Crimes Unit is the largest unit within the Albany County District Attorney’s Office. The Unit handles cases involving gangs, drugs, and guns.
