Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Assemblyman Karim Camara Arraigned in Albany County ALBANY , NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today the arraignment of KARIM CAMARA, 35, of Brooklyn, NY in Albany City Court. CAMARA was charged with a speeding violation, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and refusal to take a breath test. CAMARA was alleged to have been operating a motor vehicle in the early morning hours of April 25, 2007, on Central Avenue in the City of Albany, NY. According to Officers, CAMARA was stopped, and upon interview was observed to display all the characteristics associated with having consumed alcohol. He was administered and failed several standard sobriety tests. He was asked and summarily refused all chemical tests and was shortly thereafter placed under arrest. “Assemblyman Camara is being treated in the same manner as any citizen. He has been arrested and charged. There is an assumption of innocence, Assmeblyman Camara should be afforded that presumption, and the burden is on the People to prove him otherwise,” commented DA Soares.
