David Paradise Pleads

Faces 30 Years  

ALBANY , NY –  District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that DAVID ALLEN PARADISE, 30, of 6 Lansing Lane , Cohoes , NY has pled guilty to Manslaughter in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 4 th Degree before the Honorable Stephen W. Herrick.

With this plea, he will face 30 years in State Prison and five years Post Release Supervision.

In pleading guilty, PARADISE admitted that between the evening hours of September 17, 2005 and the early morning hours of September 18, 2005 , PARADISE caused the death of his wife, Melissa Moran-Paradise by stabbing her repeatedly in the head, neck, and body.

PARADISE was arrested on September 19, 2005 , after he turned himself into and gave a statement to the NYS Police Barracks in Malone NY and the particulars of the statement were confirmed by Officers of the Cohoes Police Department.

DA Soares thanked the Cohoes Police Department and the NYS Police in the Malone Station and the NYS Police Forensic Unit for the investigation that lead to this disposition.

“As pleased as we are with this speedy disposition, we continue to grieve with the victims family and the greater family of the residents of Cohoes who have lost a valuable friend,” the DA said.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 1, 2006
