Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Guilty Verdict in Colonie Motel Attack ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that Jesus Bruno, 37, of 122 2 Central Avenue, Colonie, NY was found guilty after a jury trial before the Honorable Jonathan Nichols on three counts including Criminal Sexual Act in the First Degree, Attempted Assault in the Second Degree, and Resisting Arrest a Class “A” Misdemeanor. In reaching its guilty verdict, the jury found that on August 9, 2005 at about 1 : 30 AM , BRUNO approached two young women in front of the Budget Motel at 1222 C e ntral Avenue and lured them into his room by offering them the use of a phone or a ride to their homes. Once the girls entered his room, BRUNO attacked them. One of the two women escaped but BRUNO restrained and sexually assaulted the other one. The woman who escaped called 911. Colonie Police quickly arrived on the scene and arrested Bruno. District Attorney Soares stated today “We are pleased with the verdict and that the People have found JESUS BRUNO guilty. Good police investigative work combined with cooperative and compelling victim testimony helped bring this case to a successful verdict. It is now our hope that JESUS BRUNO will be sentenced as a persistent violent felon. Mr Bruno is a sexual predator who needs to be off the streets, and with this verdict he will be going away for a very long time.” BRUNO faces up to 25 years to life.
