Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Arraignment of Keisha Jones
ALBANY, NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that the arraignment of Keisha Jones, 30, of 95 North Manning Boulevard, Albany, NY on one count of Grand Larceny and one count of Insurance Fraud in the 3 rd degree would take place Friday April 8, 2005 before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. The indictment alleges that JONES and her sister AliCIA falsely reported that their 1994 Accura had been stolen in New York City. After submitting a false claim to their insurance company they received a payout of over $10,000. In fact the car had not been stolen but had been stored in JONES’ garage where it had been stripped of its major components. The alleged fraud was revealed after an investigation of the Auto Fraud Unit of the District Attorney’s Office, the Special Investigations Unit of the Prudential / Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and the Auto Theft Unit of the Albany Police Department. ALICIA GRAHAM, a co-defendant is currently incarcerated at the Bedford Hills Correctional Facility where she is serving a state prison term for various forgery related offenses. Jones faces a maximum of seven years if convicted on all counts. Assistant District Attorney Brad Sherman handled the case for the Office of the District Attorney.
