Red Carpet Inn Murder Indictment Unsealed


  

  

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that SERIEON BANKSTON, 26, of Albany, was arraigned before Honorable Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court this morning in relation to a September 2021 homicide that took place at the Red Carpet Inn the City of Albany.

BANKSTON was arraigned on (1) Count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A-1 Felony, and (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C armed Violent Felony. BANKSTON pleaded not guilty to the charges at arraignment today and was remanded in to custody without bail.

An Albany County Grand Jury previously returned sealed charges against BANKSTON, alleging that on September 18, 2021, at approximately 11:40 P.M., in the area of 500 Northern Boulevard in the City of Albany, BANKSTON intentionally caused the death of Shawn Terry by shooting him with an illegally possessed firearm. The investigation was led by detectives in the Albany Police Department.

No new appearance dates have been scheduled by the Court at this time.
