Guilty Plea in Second Avenue Murder Case


  

  

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that NAJAHLIEK EDMUNDS, 25, of Albany pleaded guilty to an entire indictment consisting of charges of (1) Count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A-1 Felony, and (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C Armed Felony, before the Honorable Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court this afternoon.


On June 24, 2020, at approximately 11:50 P.M., while in the area of 142 Second Avenue in the City of Albany, EDMUNDS intentionally caused the death of 23-year-old Eddie Richardson by means of shooting him in the chest. Additionally, when he was apprehended on August 11, 2020, at approximately 2:30 P.M., EDMUNDS was found to be in illegal possession of a .380 caliber pistol that was in his sweatshirt pocket.

Based on his history and facts surrounding this case, EDMUNDS faces up to 25 Years to Life in State Prison when sentenced on January 20, 2022.
