Murder Indictment Returned Today 

against Natural Wise Joseph

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that NATURAL WISE JOSEPH, 33, of Colonie, was indicted by a Albany County Grand Jury on (1) Count of Murder in the Second Degree, as Class A-I Felony, (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class C Armed Violent Felony, and (2) Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, as Class B Felonies.

An Albany County Grand Jury returned an indictment today alleging that on May 21, 2021, at approximately 6:20 P.M., while in the area of 71 Central Avenue in the City of Albany, JOSEPH intentionally caused the death of 39-year-old Lashon Turner by means of shooting him with an illegally possessed gun.

In addition, the indictment alleges that when members of the Albany Police Department were arresting JOSEPH on May 25, 2021, he was found to allegedly be in illegal possession of a quantity of cocaine.

A formal arraignment date is expected to be scheduled by the Court next week. Copies of the indictment will be available after arraignment.

Major Offense Unit Chief Shannon Corbitt and Assistant District Attorney David Szalda are handling the prosecution of this case.
