Third Man Sentenced for Violent 


Corner Store Assault 


ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that three Albany men have been sentenced for their respective roles in a violent assault that took place at the Madison Mart located on the corner of Grand Street and Madison Avenue in the City of Albany. FRED GRACE, 58, was sentenced to (6) years in State Prison, to be followed by (5) years of Post-Release Supervision, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough Albany County Court this afternoon. GRACE previously pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class D Felony.


Co-defendants STEVEN GORDON, 36, and NEVIN DABNEY, 40, each previously pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Attempted Gang Assault in the First Degree, a Class C Violent Felony, for their respective roles in the crime.


On January 31, 2021, at approximately 5:52 P.M., the three co-defendants caused serious physical injury to an adult male by punching him several times and slashing him across the face with a razor blade. This caused deep lacerations that resulted in permanent disfigurement to the victim.


GORDON was sentenced to (10) years in State Prison, to be followed by (5) years of Post-Release Supervision, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough on April 2, 2021. DABNEY was sentenced to (13) years in State Prison, to be followed by (5) years of Post-Release Supervision, before the Honorable Andra Ackerman on March 2, 2021.
