 Sentencing in Violent First Street Robbery Case 



ALBANY, NY -  District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that HUGH SAXBY, 28, of Albany, was sentenced to (8) years in State Prison, to be followed by (5) years of Post-Release Supervision, before the Honorable William A. Carter Albany County Court today for his role in a violent stabbing at a residence on First Street in the City of Albany in April 2020.

SAXBY previously pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Attempted Robbery in the First Degree, a Class C Violent Felony.

On April 27, 2020, after 9:30 P.M., SAXBY did participate in a violent robbery of an adult male. While aided by another, SAXBY stabbed the victim while robbing him of his ATM debit card and belongings. After the encounter, the victim was able to get to safety and call for medical assistance. Due to the severity of the stab wound, the victim was immediately intubated upon arrival at the hospital and underwent emergency life-saving surgery.

Senior Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato of the Major Offence Unit prosecuted this case.
