 Guilty Plea in Lark Street Stabbing Case



  

 

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that ERIC SUMPTER, 26, of Amsterdam, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Assault in the Second Degree, A Class D Violent Felony, before the Honorable Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court yesterday afternoon.

On November 30, 2019, at approximately 3:33 A.M., while inside a bar on Lark Street in the City of Albany, SUMPTER did stab an adult male security guard and threatened others with a knife. Members of the Albany Police Department were able to apprehend SUMPTER nearby and take him in to custody. The victim sustained injury wounds and survived after treatment.

SUMPTER faces (5) years in State Prison, to be followed by (5) years of Post-Release Supervision, when sentenced on November 12, 2020.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato is handling the prosecution of this case.
