Guilty Plea in Cohoes Fire Case

ALBANY, NY -  District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that SHEVAON JOSLYN, 50, of Cohoes, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, a Class D Felony, before the Honorable Andra Ackerman in Albany County Court this morning.

On August 12, 2019, JOSLYN engaged in a verbal altercation with a person that was known to her in an apartment located at 112 Main Street in the City of Cohoes. JOSLYN left the apartment and returned at approximately 9:00 PM with a can of gasoline. JOSLYN then poured the gasoline on the floor of the second level of the occupied apartment building and lit a piece of cardboard on fire. JOSLYN dropped the lit cardboard on to the doused floor and left the building. The gasoline did not catch fire and thankfully no one was injured.

JOSLYN faces 2 to 6 years in State Prison when sentenced on April 6, 2020.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato of the Major Offense Unit prosecuted this case.
