Level 3 Sex Offender Found Guilty of

Attempted Kidnapping

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that HARRY BONILLA, 33, of Albany, was found guilty after a jury trial of (1) Count of Attempted Kidnapping in the Second Degree as a Sexually Motivated Felony, a Class B Felony, (1) Count of Sex Abuse in the First Degree, a Class D Felony, and (1) Count of Assault in the Third Degree, a Class A Misdemeanor, before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court this afternoon.

After hearing testimony and reviewing evidence this week during trial, the jury concluded that on December 4, 2018, while in near the corner of Robin Street and Sheridan Avenue in the City of Albany, BONILLA attempted to abduct a (16) year old girl who was not known to him, for the purposes of his own sexual gratification. BONILLA approached the girl and grabbed her in a sexual manner while trying to lure her into his vehicle. The girl was able to fight back and get away.

BONILLA, who is a registered Level 3 Sex Offender based previous attempted abduction convictions, faces up to (25) years to Life in State Prison as a potential persistent violent felon when sentenced on March 20, 2020.

Executive Assistant District Attorney Jennifer McCanney of the Special Victims Unit prosecuted this case.
