 State Prison Sentence in Albany Gun Case

 


  


ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that GORDON HEPBURN, 29, of Albany, was sentenced to 7 years in State Prison, to be followed by 5 years of Post- Release Supervision, before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin in Albany County Supreme Court this morning.

On November 25, 2019, HEPBURN pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, a Class D Armed Violent Felony.

On June 11, 2019, at approximately 1:18 PM, in the area of Third Street in the City of Albany, members of the Albany Police Department entered HEPBURN’s residence acting upon a search warrant as part of an ongoing investigation. During the search police found HEPBURN in unlawful possession of a loaded .357 revolver. The recovered firearm was reported stolen to New York State Police in March of 2012. Additionally, on May 31, 2019, at approximately 10:06 PM, in the area of Schuyler Street and South Pearl Street in the City of Albany, HEPBURN unlawfully possessed a loaded 9mm handgun when he fired approximately five rounds at two victims who were known to him.

Assistant District Attorney Joseph Brucato of the Major Offense Unit prosecuted this case.
