 Repeat Car Thief Pleads Guilty

 

 

 

 

ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that DAQUAN WATKINS, 27, of Albany, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class D Felony, before the Honorable Peter A. Lynch in Albany County Court this morning.

On November 15, 2018, WATKINS went to a car dealership in the City of Albany and obtained the keys to a BMW for a test drive. WATKINS left with the vehicle and did not return. WATKINS had called the dealership the day prior to inquire about the vehicle.

WATKINS has three prior convictions for stealing vehicles in 2009, 2010 and 2014.

WATKINS faces 3 to 6 years in State Prison when sentenced on August 27, 2019.

Assistant District Attorney Kaleigh Henderson of the Vehicular Crimes Unit is prosecuting this case.
