 Guilty Plea in Domestic Violence Stabbing Case


ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that THOMAS CAULFIELD, 52, of Colonie, pleaded guilty to an entire indictment previously returned against him consisting of (1) Count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class B Violent Felony, (1) Count of Assault in the First Degree, a Class B Felony, (1 ) Count of Aggravated Criminal Contempt, a Class D Felony, and (2) Count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon, each Class A Misdemeanors, before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court this morning.

On August 30, 2018, while at a salon located on Central Avenue in the Town of Colonie, CAULFIELD, who was was armed with a knife and metal knuckles, did stab a victim who was known to him with said knife causing serious physical injury that required intensive lifesaving emergency surgery. These actions did violate a previously served No Contact Order of Protection issued to this defendant which prohibited him from contacting this victim.

CAULFIELD faces a potential of up to 25 years in State Prison when sentenced on July 18, 2019.

Special Victims Unit Bureau Chief Shannon Sarfoh is handling the prosecution of this case.
