State Prison Sentence for Driver in 

Leandra’s Law Case 



ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that EBO BOONE, 30, of Glenville, NY, was sentenced to 1 1/3 to 4 years in State Prison before the Honorable William A. Carter in Albany County Court this morning.

On February 21, 2019, BOONE pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated; Child in Vehicle, a Class E Felony, (2) Counts of Driving While Intoxicated, each classified as a Misdemeanor, and (1) Count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a Class A Misdemeanor.

On the July 5, 2018, at approximately 3:00 AM, on Interstate 87 in the Village of Ravena, officers of the New York State Police initiated a traffic stop after observing BOONE driving at the speed of approximately 82 miles per hour in a 65 miles per hour zone and failing to maintain within the lanes. At the time of the stop, BOONE displayed physical signs of intoxication and admitted he had been drinking earlier in the evening at a barbeque in the Bronx prior to driving to Albany. After having consumed a significant amount of alcohol, BOONE drove in an imprudent manner while having a 6 year old child as a passenger in the vehicle. Toxicology reports revealed BOONE had a blood alcohol content level of .10 % approximately one hour after the stop.

Vehicular Crimes Unit Bureau Chief Mary Tanner- Richter handled the prosecution of this case.
