Alternative Sentencing Options

There are many non-violent crimes for which prison is not the appropriate consequence. These crimes include many of the violations of drug and alcohol laws, crimes of addiction, and many domestic altercations. For these cases, there are a variety of alternative sentencing operations, including Drug Court , Family Court, and the Road to Recovery Program.

The benefits of these programs are twofold: not only do they provide the kind of treatment and counseling required to prevent recidivism, but they also free up our prosecutors to concentrate on violent crimes and crimes involving victims.
