ALBANY, NY- District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that NESHAD GRADY, 23, of Albany, was arraigned before the Honorable Roger D. McDonough in Albany County Supreme Court this morning for his alleged role in the death of Khalil Barnes.
GRADY was arraigned on (1) Count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class A-I Felony, and (2) Counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, each Class C Armed Violent Felonies.
An indictment unsealed today alleges that on July 14, 2018, at approximately 12:30 A.M., in the area of 68 Quail Street in the City of Albany, GRADY did cause the death of Khalil Barnes by means of shooting him with a loaded handgun. Additionally, the indictment also alleges that on November 9, 2018, at approximately 2:10 PM, while in the area of Manning Boulevard in the City of Albany, GRADY did possess a loaded semi-automatic handgun.
GRADY pleaded not guilty to the charges today and was remanded back to the Albany County Correctional Facility pending a bail application. No new public court dates have been scheduled by the Court at this time.
Bureau Chief Eric Galarneau and Assistant District Attorney Michael Wetmore are handling the prosecution of this case.
