Two Arrested for Possession of 

Over 200 Grams of Drugs





ALBANY, NY- District Attorney P. David Soares and the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, in collaboration with State Police Troop G and Troop T, Albany Police Department, Rensselaer Police Department, New York State Intelligence Center, and New York State Parole, announced today the arrest of DARRELL CHAPMAN, 37, of Rensselaer, NY and LACEE SOUSIS, 20, of Troy, NY, after Troopers found almost 300 grams of drugs inside of their vehicle.

On October 17, 2017, as part of an ongoing investigation, the New York State Police Community Narcotics Enforcement Team – Capital, received a tip that a suspect would be traveling to New York City to obtain an undetermined quantity of controlled substances.

During the early morning hours of October 18, 2017, Troop T members located the suspect's vehicle traveling north on I-87. Troopers made a traffic stop and discovered CHAPMAN and SOUSIS inside the vehicle in possession of 280 grams of heroin.

Following the traffic stop, search warrants were executed for CHAPMAN’S business and residence. From his business, Officers seized approximately 100 grams of cocaine and seven grams of crack cocaine, cash, scales, and a money counter. Officers seized an additional 1.5 kilos of cocaine, 4 handguns, and 2 assault rifles at his residence.

CHAPMAN and SOUSIS were both charged with (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the First Degree, a Class A Felony. Both were arraigned in the Town of Coeymans Court and were remanded to Albany County Jail without bail.

No new appearance dates have been scheduled at this time.
