Officer Arraigned for Inappropriate Contact





ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JOSHUA SPRATT, 34, of New Scotland, was arraigned on (4) Counts of Criminal Sexual Act in the Third Degree, all Class E Felonies, (2) Counts of Official Misconduct, both Class A Misdemeanors, and (1) Count of Endangering the Welfare of a Minor, a Class A Misdemeanor, before the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin in Albany County Supreme Court this morning.

An indictment that was unsealed in court this morning alleges that between the approximate dates of February 14, 2015 and April 10, 2015, SPRATT did engage in (4) separate sexual acts with a 16 year old female that was known to him at locations in the City of Watervliet and the Village of Menands.  The indictment also alleges that during that same time period, while acting in his capacity as a police officer, SPRATT did engage in Official Misconduct.  

SPRATT pleaded not guilty to the charges today in court.  Judge Breslin set bail at $50,000.

Assistant District Attorney Jennifer McCanney of the Special Victims Unit is handling the prosecution of this case.
