ALBANY, NY- Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JOSHUA DUELL, 26, of Ravena, pleaded guilty to (1) Count of Burglary in the Second Degree, a Class “C” Violent Felony before Honorable Judge Joseph C. Teresi in Albany County Court this morning.
Between December 27, 2011 and June 6, 2011 DUELL engaged in several thefts of personal property across the village of Ravena. During this time, DUELL stole a car and burglarized a home and stole a Nintendo Wii, video games, DVD’s, jewelry and coins. In addition, DUELL was found to be in possession of a stolen GPS unit and a digital camera that belonged to the owner of the stolen car, as well as debit card which was used to purchase a pack of cigarettes. Police used surveillance video of DUELL using the stolen debit card in order to make their arrest.
“Burglary is a crime of opportunity,” commented DA David Soares. “We as a community must come together and look out for one another to ensure that our personal property is safe and secure from individuals such as Mr. Duell.”
DUELL is scheduled to be sentenced to 5 years in State Prison followed by 5 years Post-Release Supervision on October 2, 2012.
