ALBANY, NY – The Office of the Albany County District Attorney and Albany Barn, Inc. are pleased to announce the launch of the 2013 Annual Building Communities Youth Art Contest. Last year’s contest drew 35 entries from 5 schools located in the City of Albany, and challenged students to create artwork that portrayed their vision of a strong and safe community. Six winners were chosen from three age-based categories and were awarded prizes from local businesses in the Capital District. Their artwork was also displayed at the Office of the Albany County District Attorney’s Community Justice Outreach Center located on 155 Clinton Avenue Albany, NY, 12210. This year’s contest will be centered on the theme of “Earth Day.” Interested students should submit a piece of artwork and will be asked to convey the ways in which they have an impact on their environment and the changes they would like to see in their communities to make them a healthier and more environmentally sound place to live. To enter, interested students should submit their artwork either by dropping it off at the Community Justice Outreach Center or by mailing it to the Outreach Center at 155 Clinton Avenue, Albany, NY, 12210. The deadline for entries is Friday, April 12, 2013. Judges will be chosen from Albany Barn, Inc., the Office of the Albany County District Attorney, and community members in the City of Albany.
