Chief Assistant District Attorney David M. Rossi
Dave Rossi is currently the Chief Assistant District Attorney in Albany County. Prior to that he was the Bureau Chief of the Homicide and Special Victims Unit. He is a 1998 graduate of Albany Law School and has worked at the Albany County DA’s Office since that time.
Dave is currently a member of the New York State District Attorney’s Association serving on the Best Practices Committee. The Best Practices Committee was formed to address wrongful convictions. Dave has also lectured for the New York Prosecutors Training Institute.
Since becoming a felony-level trial prosecutor in 2000, Dave has tried approximately 45 felony trials to verdict including several homicides, such as:
Joel Scott- Former professional boxer Joel Scott is serving life in prison following his Murder in the First Degree conviction. Mr. Scott was convicted of sexually assaulting and murdering a 58 year-old woman in Lincoln Park in 2004.
Tammara McCoy- Ms. McCoy is serving 25 to life following her murder conviction. Ms. McCoy conspired to kill her husband by driving him to a parking lot where her boyfriend Jamar Johnson shot him
Jermayne Timmons-Mr. Timmons is serving 15 to life following his murder conviction. He fired a stray bullet which killed a 9 year-old girl who was playing on her front steps over a block away.
Jovan Underdue- Mr. Underdue was convicted in April, 2009 of Murder in the First Degree for killing 3 people including a 16 year-old boy.
Christopher Porco- Dave was a co-prosecutor in the trial of Christopher Porco who was convicted in 2006 of murdering his father and assaulting his mother with an axe while they slept.
Devon Callicut- Mr. Callicut is currently serving a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole for his 2010 conviction of Murder in the First Degree. Mr. Callicut was convicted of murdering SUNY Albany student Richard Bailey while Mr. Bailey walked home from a friend’s house in the City of Albany
