ALBANY COUNTY HAS HAD
Albany Man Pleads Guilty To Attempted Murder ALBANY, NY - District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that after two days of trial, KENNETH THOMAS, 22, of Troy, NY, pled guilty to (1) count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “B” Violent Felony in front of the Honorable Thomas Breslin. Sentencing is scheduled for November 5, 2008. On January 5, 2008 at approximately 4:00 A.M. at the Matchbox Bar and Grill in the City of Cohoes, KENNETH THOMAS attempted to cause the death of a male victim by shooting him with a handgun. “In this instance, an argument at a bar escalated into a situation where someone almost lost their life. Acts of senseless violence have caused far too much damage in our communities and I hope the message is being heard loud and clear - if you carry a gun in Albany County, or if you use a gun in Albany County, you will go to state prison,” commented DA Soares. “I would also like to commend Bureau Chief Bruce Lennard for presenting such a compelling case over the last two days that the defendant pled guilty before even beginning to present his defense.” Major Offense Bureau Chief Bruce Lennard handled the prosecution of the case.
