ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that JEREMY E. PLOUFFE, 31, of Petersburgh, NY, was arraigned on (1) count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “ B” Felony , (1) count of Assault in the Second Degree, a Class “ D” Felony and (1) count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, a Class “A” Misdemeanor in front of the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. PLOUFFE pleaded not guilty and was released on $30,000 bail. PLOUFFE faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted of the charges. The indictment alleges that on August 12, 2008, at approximately 8:00 A.M. on the roof of Adirondack Hall dormitory at the University at Albany, PLOUFFE stabbed a coworker in the lower back with a keyhole saw causing an approximately one-inch laceration and approximately three-inch penetrating wound, and then attempted to stab the victim again. A conference is scheduled for Friday, September 12, 2008. Major Offense Bureau Chief Bruce Lennard is handling the prosecution of this case.
