David Bryan Pleas Guilty to Stealing from Local Charities

ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that DAVID BRYAN, 53, of Rensselaerville , NY , pled guilty to (1) count of Grand Larceny in the Third Degree, a Class “D” Felony in front of the Honorable Stephen W. Herrick. Under the terms of the plea bargain, BRYAN faces 2 1/3 to 7 years in prison and must pay restitution to his victims.

Between April 1, 2003 and April 10, 2007 , BRYAN stole $148,180.32 from the Rensselaerville Library, $72,822.58 from the Trinity Church , $75,050.00 from the Rensselaerville Historical Society, $7,450.00 from the Rensselaerville Historical District Association and $ 33,659.79 from the Albany High School Student Association.

Upon learning of the guilty plea, DA Soares commented, “David Bryan was a trusted member of our community who chose to abuse his position of authority to further his personal ambitions at the expense of the citizens of Albany County . This is a very sad case and it is my hope that this plea, and the corresponding punishment can begin the healing process and restore trust in the communities which have suffered so greatly as a result of this mans actions.”

Sentencing for Bryan is scheduled for December 4, 2007 .

inancial Crimes Bureau Chief Christopher Baynes will handled the prosecution of this case.
