Tamarra McCoy Receives 25 to Life for Role in Murder Conspiracy

ALBANY, NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that TAMMARA MCCOY, A.K.A. “KESHA”, 32, of Albany, NY was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison by the Honorable Judge Lamont. MCCOY was found guilty after a jury trial of

(1) count of Murder in the Second Degree, a Class “A-1” Felony and (1) count of Conspiracy in the Second Degree, a Class “B” Felony.

On November 14, 2007, at approximately 10:45 P.M. in front of 637 South Pearl Street in the City of Albany, MCCOY and JAMAR JOHNSON, A.K.A. “JAMS”, 32, of Albany, did cause the death of Tyrone McCoy by means of shooting him in the head with a pistol.

Additionally, JOHNSON and MCCOY conspired to commit the murder. After discussing the details of the murder, MCCOY drove the victim to the area of 637 South Pearl Street, leaving him in a vehicle without the keys, knowing that JOHNSON was present in the area and planning to shoot the victim.

JOHNSON was found guilty after a jury trial in November of 2008 and is currently serving 28 1/2 years to life for Murder, Conspiracy and Criminal Possession of a Weapon.

Homicide and Special Victims Bureau Chief Dave Rossi handled the prosecution of both MCCOY and JOHNSON.
