Albany Man Pleads Guilty to Attempted Murder

ALBANY , NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that MURAT GIBSON, 23, of Albany, NY pled guilty to (1) count of Attempted Murder in the 2 nd Degree in front of the Honorable Thomas Breslin. Under the terms of the plea, GIBSON is expected to be sentenced to 15 years in prison and five years post release supervision.

On December 10 th, 2006 during the evening hours at 124 West Street in the City of Albany, MURAT GIBSON attempted to steal the car of a male victim by shooting him in the back of the neck.

DA Soares noted, “Gibson is a dangerous person simply put. His disregard for human life makes him a perfect candidate for a long prison sentence. Albany County is a safer place without this defendant.”
