Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Teen Sentenced to 3 Years in ‘Operation Speeding Bullet’ ALBANY , NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that MESSIAH HOLLOWAY, 18, of Albany, NY was sentenced to 3 years in prison with 2 years post release supervision after pleading guilty in May to (1) count of Attempted Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2 nd Degree in front of the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. On April 10, 2007 at 3:56 A.M. in the area of South Swan Street and Sheridan Avenue, an Albany Police officer on routine patrol observered MESSIAH HOLLOWAY standing by a parking lot with his hands tucked in his shirt. Upon seeing the officer, HOLLOWAY turned and walked away. The officer began to ask HOLLOWAY questions and when the information given did not make sense, the officer started to pat down Holloway for officer safety and felt the butt of a rifle. HOLLOWAY had a rifle that had been sawed down to nine inches long. Additionally, HOLLOWAY had four live rounds of ammunition. “This is another instance where ‘Operation Speeding Bullet’ has taken a dangerous weapon and criminal off our streets,” commented DA Soares. “This case went from arraignment to sentencing in just under two months and is a prime example of the priority this office gives to cases involving illegal weapons on our streets. It is my hope that others will see the severity of the sentence this young man will serve for just carrying a gun and will be deterred from engaging in similar activity.” Street Crimes Bureau Chief Francisco Calderon handled the prosecution of this case.### For further information contact: Heather Streeter Orth
