Eighth Defendant in ‘Operation Which Doctor’ Pleads Guilty to Conspiracy, Agrees to $200,000 in Restitution and Full Cooperation Against Signature Pharmacy

ALBANY , NY –  Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today that JOE RAICH, 44, of Jupiter, FL, pled guilty to (1) count of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree, a Class “E” Felony, in front of the Honorable Dan Lamont. According to the plea agreement, RAICH agreed to $200,000 in restitution and full cooperation against the remaining defendants in exchange for 5 years probations. Any violation of the plea agreement can result in a maximum sentence of 4 years in prison.

Between January 1, 2005 and February 27, 2007 at various points in the County of Albany, New York while physically located at 900 East Indiantown Road, Jupiter, Florida, RAICH with the intent that Criminal Sale of a prescription of a controlled substance be performed, agreed with one or more persons to sell prescriptions to Albany customers and performed the overt act of delivering such substances to Albany County by means of FedEx.

“This guilty plea again confirms that the defendants involved in “Operations Which Doctor’ knowingly cooperated to illegally sell controlled substances to the citizens of Albany County,” commented DA Soares. “The cooperation of Mr. Raich has shed new light on the inner workings of Signature Pharmacy and we will continue to aggressively pursue our case against the remaining defendants.”

Financial Crimes Bureau Chief Christopher Baynes handled the prosecution of this case.
