Jolon McNeil Indicted for Assault of Teacher at Albany High

ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced the indictment of JOLON MCNEIL, 18, of Albany, N.Y. for (1) count of Assault in the Second Degree and (1) count of Assault in the Third Degree.

On March 21, 2007 at approximately 1:25 p.m. at Albany High School, the victim was attempting to break up a fight between two students when MCNEIL entered the classroom, where he did not belong, and attacked the victim. MCNEIL punched the victim in the face and upper body a choked the victim by grabbing his tie. The actions of MCNEIL caused the victim to suffer substantial injuries including swelling to his right eye, multiple abrasions and bruising as well as injuries to his shoulder and rotator cuff.

“It is very unfortunate that the people who have volunteered to teach our children must endure an environment of hostility everyday when they go to work. Mr. McNeil displayed very poor judgment on the day of this attack and now he must face the repercussions of those actions,” commented DA Soares.

ADA Christina Nolan is handling the prosecution of this case.
