Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares New Charges for Doctor Connected to Palm Beach Rejuvenation Just Three Days after Dr. Claire Godfrey Pled Guilty, Dr. Robert Carlson is Arraigned on 28 Counts ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today the arraignments of DR. ROBERT CARLSON, 50, of Sarasota, FL on multiple counts in connection with Signature Pharmacy and the illegal distribution of controlled substances. He pled not guilty and was released on $10,000 bail. CARLSON faces (28) counts consisting of: (1) count of Enterprise Corruption, a Class “B” Felony, (1) count of Criminal diversion of prescription medications and prescriptions in the F irst degree, a Class “C” Felony, (9) counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree, a Class “D” Felony, (8) counts of Attempted Criminal Sale of a P rescription for a C ontrolled S ubstance, a Class “D” Felony, (2) counts of Conspiracy in the Fourth Degree, a Class “E” Felony and (7) counts of Conspiracy in the Fifth Degree, a Class “A” Misdemeanor. A previous indictment, charged CARLSON with (7) similar counts. This superceding indictment comes after further investigation into the activities of Palm Beach Rejuvenation and was resealed pending the arraignment of another defendant. The indictment alleges that from January 1, 2005 through February 26, 2007 in the County of Albany and other counties in the State of New York, the defendant did knowingly and unlawfully sell the controlled substances Testosterone Cypionate, Nandralone Decanoate, Chorionic Gonadotropin and Stanozolol by issuing a prescription without a legitimate doctor/patient relationship and/or medical need, through a criminal associate Signature Pharmacy. Additionally, the indictment alleges that the defendant did intentionally participate in the affairs of a criminal enterprise by committing three or more pattern acts with knowledge of the existence of the criminal enterprise “Palm Beach Rejuvenation”. The structure consisting of Glen Stephanos and Joseph Raich as owners of the company, George Stephanos as the marketing director, DR. ROBERT CARLSON as the physician to sign the prescriptions/drug orders and various others employed as salesman. The criminal enterprise illegally sold steroids and related substances to customers throughout the United States, specifically in New York State. “Dr. Carlson is yet another doctor who made a conscious choice to part ways with his oath and put the lives of hundreds of people at risk by prescribing dangerous drugs without following procedures mandated by the law. Two other doctors have already pled guilty and we intend to move forward in this case with the same objective of holding this defendant responsible for the illegal and dangerous acts he engaged in,” commented DA Soares.
