Office of the District Attorney P. David Soares Kindred Sentenced to 25 Years for Attempted Murder ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares announced today the sentencing of MICHAEL KINDRED, 23, of 30 Lark Dr Apt B, Albany, NY, to 25 years in prison with 5 years post release supervision. KINDRED was convicted of (1) count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, (1) count of Assault in the Second Degree, (1) count of Reckless Endangerment in the First Degree, and (1) count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree in front of the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin. On October 18, 2006, at about 7:35 P.M., on Third Street in Albany, KINDRED confronted two men walking down the street. The two men said that they did not want a problem with KINDRED who thereafter pulled a handgun and began shooting at them as they fled. One victim was hit in the back of his left thigh while the other victim testified that he felt a bullet buzz past his head, actually burning his hair. Both victims indicated that they could see sparks around them as bullets ricocheted. KINDRED fired 4-6 shots and then fled the scene. “This is yet another instance in which this office has swiftly and successfully removed another gun, and the criminal using it, off the streets,” commented DA Soares. “This man will spend the next 25 years in prison for attempting to murder two members of this community, as well as putting others in danger for every pull of the trigger he engaged in. I hope that this serves as a reminder of the serious consequences incidents like these can have on offenders.” Assistant District Attorney Bruce Lennard from the Homicide Unit handled the prosecution of the case. ### For further information contact: Heather Streeter Orth
