Megan Vogel Sentenced for DWI and Vehicular Manslaughter

ALBANY , NY – District Attorney P. David Soares today announced that MEGAN VOGEL, 22, of Latham, NY, was sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison for Vehicular Manslaughter in the 2 nd Degree and Operating a Motor V ehicle While Under the Influence of Alcohol in front of the Honorable Thomas A. Breslin.

On December 23, 2006 at 9:40 pm at Second Avenue and 23 rd Street in the City of Watervliet, MEGAN VOGEL was driving a green Toyota Camry, while intoxicated, and as a result, operated the motor vehicle in a manner that caused the death of Donna M. Rehm. Following the crash, it was determined that VOGEL had a BAC of .13.

“This tragic incident shows the unnecessary and unfortunate consequences drinking and driving can have on the community,” commented DA Soares. “Two families have had their lives permanently altered as a result of poorly chosen, and easily avoidable, actions. I hope that this case serves as a reminder of how serious an issue this is within Albany County and how the easy decision to not drink and drive can prevent events like these from occurring.”

ADA Kathleen Boland from the Major Offenses Unit handled the prosecution of this case.
