June Shooter Arraigned on Attempted Murder Charges

ALBANY, NY – Albany County District Attorney P. David Soares announced today the arraignment of DUANE MORRISON, Albany, NY, before the Honorable Dan Lamont.

MORRISON faces (1) count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, (1) count of Assault in the First Degree, (1) count of Assault in the Second Degree, and (1) count Escape in the Second Degree. It is alleged that on June 10th, 2007, MORRISON, while on Third Ave in the City of Albany, with the intent to cause the death of two victims, did shoot with a .22 caliber long rifle. These actions did cause one victim to suffer a gunshot wound to his head and shoulder, while causing a left leg wound to a second victim. After being taken into custody, MORRISON escaped from the South Albany Police Station and was later apprehended.

“This unnecessary and vicious shooting almost took the life of one man and has left another in need of serious, long-term medical attention,” commented DA Soares. “Instances like this effect not only the victims and their families, but also all residents of our community and we will continue to vigorously prosecute these senseless crimes that threaten the quality of life in Albany County.”

Special Victims and Homicide Bureau Chief Dave Rossi is handling the prosecution of the case.
